13-year-old girl raped, murdered in Mbita, Homa Bay County

A 13-year-old girl who was reported missing from Rabuor village in Kamsama, Suba North Constituency, Homa Bay County, was found dead on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The body of Mary Treza, a seventh-grade pupil at Kamsama Comprehensive School, was found along a local road. She had been reported missing from school on Monday, September 15, during lunch break. Authorities believe the girl was raped before being killed and her body dumped by the roadside. Mbita Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Peter Mutiso said the girl was attacked after separating from her classmates on her way home. No arrests have been made in the grisly murder of the pupil.
