25 relatives from Nyakach village killed, 29 injured in bus accident in Kisumu on way from funeral in Nyahera

At least 25 were killed in a tragic road accident involving a bus owned by AIC Naki High School at the Coptic Roundabout in Kisumu on Friday, August 8. The bush was ferrying relatives who had attended a funeral in Nyahera to back to Nyakach. Police said the driver lost control of the bus near Coptic Roundabout, crossed over to the opposite lane heading back to Kakamega, and plunged into a ditch. Among the dead were at least 10 women, 10 men, and a 10-year-old girl. Five people sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment, while 15 others, including a minor, suffered minor injuries. Most of the patients were admitted at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu. Dr. Dick Obange of Maseno University, whose relatives were in the bus, said he was lost for words.
