Abasuba Council of Elders Elects Ochieng Ounga as New Omugambi

The Abasuba Council of Elders has settled the leadership vacuum created by the death of its former chairman, Thomas Asango, who passed away in September last year after an illness.

The council’s top seat, known traditionally as the Omugambi, had remained vacant since Asango’s death, prompting elders to convene and agree on a successor. After consultations and consensus-building, the elders have chosen Ochieng Ounga to serve as the new Omugambi.

According to resolutions delivered by steering committee chairman Mathews K’Ouro, Ounga is set to be formally installed on August 28.

The council says the appointment restores continuity in cultural leadership and ensures that community affairs will proceed without disruption.
