The Kenya anti-corruption agency is set to auction assets worth more than Kshs 550 million that were seized from four people accused of embezzling funds from Migori County when Okoth Obado was the governor. Galaxy Keysian and Astorion Auctioneers will sell properties belonging to Jared Kwaga, Joram Otieno, Caroline Obwa and Otago Ojuki, all close associates of former Governor Obado. Kwaga and Otieno were charged alongside Obado and 13 others at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court for the irregular acquisition of Sh505 million from Migori County between 2013 and 2017. The properties are located in Nairobi, Kisumu and Migori counties. Kwaga will forfeit six properties, including a maisonette and two two-bedroom apartments on Savannah Road in Greenspan Estate in Nairobi, a residential house in Suna East/Wasweta in Migori County, and two residential blocks, each with 10 apartments. Also included in the sale is Sunrise Centre, a story office block with two detached commercial buildings along the Migori-Kisii road in Suna, and a townhouse in Loresho Ridge Estate, Mountain View in Nairobi. Otieno will surrender a developed plot in Suna East/Wasweta, Migori. Obwa will forfeit a three-bedroom apartment in Riara, Nairobi, and a parcel of land in Kisumu City. The property has a four-story block of flats. Ojuki will lose a commercial property in Kamagambo, Rongo Township. The plot has a three-bedroom bungalow, a block of three semi-detached two-bedroom rental units, and another block of two similar units.
