Caroli Omondi Leads Calls for Exodus from ODM to Linda Mwananchi Party

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi has intensified his criticism of the Orange Democratic Movement, urging supporters aligned with former party leader Raila Odinga to abandon the outfit and rally behind the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Speaking during a grassroots mobilisation tour across Taita Taveta County on Saturday, July 18, Caroli declared that ODM had “lost its identity” and was no longer capable of representing the interests of its traditional support base.

He claimed that the party’s recent cooperation with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration had effectively placed ODM under the President’s influence.'

Addressing supporters in Mwatate, Wundanyi and Voi, Caroli said the Linda Mwananchi movement had reached a turning point.

Caroli said that it has become necessary to dissolve all the bonds with the Orange Democratic Movement, adding that time is ripe to break away from ODM.

Caroli further described ODM as “dead,” arguing that disillusioned members should unite under the Linda Mwananchi banner, which has positioned itself as a vocal critic of the broad based government.

The movement’s leadership announced plans to formally sever ties with ODM, signaling a significant shift in the opposition’s political reorganization ahead of the 2027 General Election. Leaders said the breakaway was essential to rebuild a credible alternative political force capable of challenging the current administration.

As the Linda Mwananchi movement continues its nationwide outreach, Caroli urged supporters to prepare for a new phase of political mobilization centered on accountability, citizen empowerment and renewed opposition unity.
