Homa Bay County Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga survives assassination attempt

Homa Bay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga claimed on Monday, May 12 that he narrowly escaped a political assassination when unknown gunmen fire shots at his car. Magwanga, a former MP for Kasipul, said his security officers engaged in gunfire exchange with the unknown number of gangsters at his home in Kabuor village home in Kasipul Constituency. Magwanga said the shooting happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday, when his family noticed unusual movements near the compound while he was still away. Magwanga said he changed his route and vehicle after his family informed himabout the unidentified people near his home. Officers from Oyugis and Rachuonyo South police stations responded to the scene, but no weapons were recovered at the scene. The incident comes after the burial of Kasipul MP Charles Ong'ondo Were, who was shot and killed in Nairobi on April 30.
