The MP for Homa Bay Peter Kaluma was seriously wounded by youths during Kasipul Constituency by-election on Thursday, November 27. Kaluma, who was the ODM party chief agent, was attacked at Agoro Sare Polling Station as he waited for the arrival of Boyd Were, the party’s candidate for the seat that was left vacant after the death of his father, Ongondo Were. Kaluma said that one of his bodyguards lost a firearm. The MP said that he was attacked in the presence of Phillip Aroko, who was running as an independent candidate. “I have been attacked by Aroko and his team of goons. Aroko came in personally at Agoro Sare. I went to receive him thinking it was Boyd Were's vehicles,” Kaluma said, adding that he mistook Aroko’s team as those of Were, the ODM candidate. Were was declared the winner by 16,819 votes against Aroko’s 8,400 votes.
