Mama Ida Odinga has urged politicians to keep off the affairs of the family, saying they are still mourning the deaths of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his sister Beryl Odinga. She said the Jaramogi family should not be dragged into the Orange Democratic Movement party succession politics and the 2027 general elections. Ida told politicians to allow the family to mourn. “We have just buried Raila, and now we are burying Beryl,” she told mourners on Saturday, December 6 at Beryl Odinga’s funeral at Kango Ka Jaramogi in Bondo. “What has happened to us is very painful. When people are urging us to do certain things, please leave us alone for a little while.” Ida said that the head of the Jaramogi family is Dr. Oburu Odinga, adding that in ODM, the party leader is Dr. Oburu Odinga. She noted that ODM will remain united currently under Oburu Odinga. Ida also urged youth to avoid being misused by politicians. She added that the youth should get identity card to register as voters. “Make sure you have an identity card. Register as a voter. When you have your ID and voter’s card, you do not need to run after anyone. You simply go and choose the leader you want,” Ida said.
