President William Ruto has nominated Mama Ida Betty Odinga as Kenya’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations Environment Program. The Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said on Friday, January 23 that the president appointed Ida Odinga because of her lifelong service, describing her work as a testament to the highest ideals of selfless leadership, marked by courage and a sustained commitment to advancing women’s education and empowerment. The nomination has been forwarded to the National Assembly for approval. If approved, Ida Odinga will replace Ababu Namwamba, who was reassigned as Kenya’s ambassador to Uganda. Ida is the wife of the late ODM Party leader Raila Odinga
