Kakamega Woman Arrested, Missing Children Rescued

A woman suspected of child trafficking has been arrested by officers from the Anti- Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit. Mary Akinyi Mulamula was arrested in Kabete, Nairobi County in connection with kidnapping a minor. Mary Akinyi is accused of stealing a child in Muchingu, Mukango Sub-Location, Kakamega County, on June 6, 2024. Akinyi deceived the child’s father, who is a farmhand in Kakamega, that she was taking the child to Kakamega to be registered in a sponsorship program that promised a monthly stipend of Ksh.9,000. She vanished with the child prompting a manhunt that led to her arrest.
