Kenyan Election Official Aisha Abubakar Murdered in Mombasa

A newly promoted Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission official was brutally murdered in her Mombasa house. Aisha Akinyi Abubakar was killed by two masked men who are said to have been armed with a crowbar and a knife. Abubakar’s 18 year-old son, Khasim Hassan, was injured in the attack. Abubakar was recently appointed the acting elections manager for North Coast Region. The attackers are said to have left with a safe containing election documents. The attackers also stole a Samsung a15, a 65-inch Samsung TV, a sound system, an iPad, and a Samsung a21 before fleeing.
