Thousands of Kenyans turned out at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to receive the body of former Prime Minister and ODM party leader Raila Odinga. The former prime minister’s remains arrived from India on a Kenya Airways flight at 8:30 a.m. Security was tight as the procession snarled its way through Mombasa Road on to Embakasi Road for a public viewing at Kasarani Stadium. Raila’s casket was under heavy security as the public flocked to Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, to view the body. At one point the public pushed their way into the stadium but were quickly turned away by the police lobbing tear gas. At least three people have died after police fired gunshots and tear gas in a stadium where crowds of mourners had gathered to see the body.
