Suspects charged in the murder of the Wells Fargo Human Resources Director Willis Ayieko withdrew Ksh.145, 000 from his account. An M-Pesa shop attendant told a court on Tuesday, November 18 that one of the suspects, a middle-aged man used Ayieko’s national ID card to withdrawal Ksh.45,000, Ksh.30,000, and Ksh.70,000 in separate instalments. CCTV footage played in court showed the suspect receiving the cash. M-Pesa attendant Anthony Gitonga said that a man wearing a blue jacket and spectacles arrived at 6:05 a.m. on October 19, 2024, and made two withdrawals using an ID card bearing Ayieko’s name. He added that the same man returned the following day and made another withdrawal, although he was served by Gitonga’s colleague. Ayieko went missing on October 18, 2024, and his vehicle was found abandoned in Sabatia. His body was discovered six days later in a stream along the Siaya-Kakamega border. One of the accused killers Victor Ouma Okoth is reported to have shown troubling behavior shortly before Ayieko was murdered. The court was told that Okoth had been admitted to Egerton University to study Medicine, but he began exhibiting erratic conduct, including asking for help to register a mobile phone number using his sister’s national ID. Other suspects who were charged with killing Ayieko are Victor Ouma Okoth, known as Sisco, Samuel Onyango alias Jaboda, and Dancun Ochieng.
