Ministers John Mbadi and Davis Chirchir relaunch stalled Sindo-Nyabera-Koguta tarmac road

President William Ruto’s broad-based government on Friday, January 23 marked a major step forward in regional connectivity as Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi Ng’ongo of National Treasury and Davis Chirchir of Transport and Infrastructure, presided over the groundbreaking of two key road projects in Suba District. The two ministers relaunched the stalled Sindo–Nyabera–Koguta Road at Sindo Market and the Agolomuok–Otati Kogore Aorachuodho) transport corridor. President Ruto launched the project more than two years ago. The new infrastructure is expected to significantly enhance mobility across Nyatike, Nthiwa, and Suba South constituencies, strengthening the lakeside transport corridor and unlocking new economic opportunities for communities in the region. This development comes at a time when the construction and roads sector is showing renewed momentum, with recent data indicating a rebound of approximately 6–7 per cent. The recovery follows the Government’s settlement of long?pending bills that had previously stalled numerous infrastructure projects. But Suba South MP Caroli Omondi criticized two ministers for what he called an empty ceremony to re-launch a stalled road project in Homa Bay County. The ceremony was attended by Migori Governor H.E. Ochilo Ayacko, National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee Chair and Alego Usonga MP Hon. Samuel Atandi, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’, Nyatike MP Hon. Tom Odege, Awendo MP Hon. Walter Owino, among others. The leaders hailed the project as a transformative investment poised to boost trade, improve accessibility, and accelerate development across the lakeside region.
