
Nyanza investment conference kicks off in Kisumu

The Nyanza International Investment Conference kicked off in Kisumu on Thursday, February 5. More than 600 delegates are expected to attend the three-day event. Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migos Ogamba said the conference will jumpstart the region’s economy. The conference was closed by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who represented President William Ruto, on Friday, February 6. Kindiki said the conference was timely and relevant, adding that it aligned with government’s goal to open up development and investment opportunities in Nyanza. Nyanza leaders, including governors James Orengo of Siaya, Anyang Nyongo of Kisumu, Gladys Wanga of Homa Bay, Ochilo Ayako of Migori, and Simba Arati of Kisii, and minister Wycliff Oparanya, Opiyo Wandayi and Jphn Mbadi, attended the conference. Kenya Commercial Bank’s Group Director of Technology Dennis Volemi said the bank is committed to support the region’s transformation. Gov. Nyongo and Eliud Owalo welcomed investors to Kisumu, saying the Nyanza region has a lot of opportunities to offer.
