Police kill former Siaya County Assembly Clerk Felix Olwero in mistaken robbery identity

Police shot and killed former Siaya County Assembly Clerk Felix Isaac Olwero at his hotel in what authorities call mistaken identity in Kombewa, Seme, in Kisumu County. Olwero was killed at 1 a.m. on Sunday, August 17, when police responded to a call during a suspected robbery at the White House Bar, owned by the former assembly clerk. Police officers based at Kombewa Police Station, who were on patrol, responded to a distress call by the bar’s manager Sandra Okech about an attempted break-in at the bar. Police said that an officer opened fire and fatally shot Olwero, who was wielding a machete. It’s not clear why the police did not identify themselves at the scene.
