Religious leaders have called for a day of prayer and cleansing following the mysterious deaths of at least two women in the past three months. The Reverend Jared Adoyo Onyango, chairman of Rusinga Inter-Faith Committee, and the Rusinga Island Council of Elders Religious Fraternity Patron, The Right Reverend Bishop Samuel Adede Ongola, have urged political and religious leaders, local security officials and beach leaders to attend the prayer meeting and a public rally at Litare Beach in Kamasengre, where one of the women was lived. Bishop Samuel Adede Ongola said the ceremonies will kick off from 10 a.m. on March 28 at Kiahera Hill where the bodies of the two women were found. Decomposing bodies of the unknown women were found on separate occasion at Kiahera Hill. Police have not named any suspects linked to the two deaths. Some leaders have questioned why security agencies were not consulted regarding the two ceremonies. Otieno Wachanga said there was a need to involve the local administrators. The law requires that security officials are only notified regarding any planned public event. No permits are required.
