Sections of Rusinga Ring Road near completion

The tarmacking of the 19.30km Rusinga Ring Road is nearing completion. The road is being constructed in three phases, with one phase running from Mbita to Kamasengre, another phase is from Mbita to Wanyama, and the third phase runs from Wanyama to Gunda, Kaswanga. The project was launched by President William Ruto launched the project on August 29, 2024. The project will cost about Kshs 1.28 billion. Interior PS Raymond Omollo said the completion of the road will have a transformative impact on the region by improving connectivity and facilitating the movement of goods and people. With this improved infrastructure, the region’s economic potential is set to be unlocked, particularly in sectors like trade and tourism. The road will revitalize the local fishing industry.
