ODM party leader Raila Odinga is in India for treatment for undisclosed illness. Family spokesman and Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Oginga said on Saturday, October 11 in Ugunja in Siaya that said the former prime minister went to India recently for routine medical checkup. Oburu said there is not cause for alarm. Oburu said that Raila, 80, fell ill a few days ago but at the moment he is doing fine. Politicians, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and members of public have questioned Raila whereabouts and health wellbeing. The opposition leader has not been seen in public for about one month. He has missed major public functions, including the burial of form Minister Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno in Rongo. Speculations about Raila's health went viral when ODM postponed its 20th anniversary celebrations that was planned for October in Mombasa. ODM leader’s wife, Ida Odinga, has dismissed reports of illness, saying her husband was simply taking time off. “As someone who lives with him, I know his health better than anyone,” Ida Odinga said in Migori, insisting Raila was in good health. Raila's spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, has also rejected claims that the former prime minister is unwell. He dismissed the rumors as political mischief.
