Siaya teacher seeking funds for lung cancer treatment

A 29-year-old teacher in Siaya who has been diagnosed with a rare form of lung disease is seeking financial support to undergo a lung transplant in India. Mary Cynthia Akoth Ochieng, a teacher at Ambrose Adeya Adongo Secondary School in Alego – Usonga, needs about Sh. 8 million for medical expenses. Akoth Ochieng suffers from interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension. She was first diagnosed in 2017. She currently uses oxygen concentrator 24 hours a day, and spends more than Sh. 1,200 on drugs daily.
