Two men arrested over sugarcane farms arson in Kisumu

Two men were arrested in connection with fire a several sugarcane farms in Kisumu County. The suspected arsonists have burnt thousands of acres of sugarcane farms, leaving owners with huge losses. Fires were reported in Muhoroni, Chemelil, and Kibos areas. County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo linked the fires to sabotage, adding that the arsonists intend to cripple the sugar sector and harm the economy. Silvanus Oginga, whose farm was razed, said he stands to lose more than Kshs 8 million.
