Two Ramba Boys students killed after septic tank collapses

Two students died when a septic tank collapsed at Ramba Boys High School in Rarieda, Siaya County. Ryan Otieno and David Awinda, both Form Four students, were killed while waiting for their turn to use the pit latrine. Two other students sustained injuries and were rushed to a local hospital. Police said the students were standing on top of the septic tank when it caved in at around 6.00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22. Students had previously complained about the poor condition of the structure. The police and Kenya Red Cross officials worked overnight to retrieve the bodies from the collapsed septic tank.
