Woman Buried Alive in Siaya County Gold Mine Accident

SIAYA - A 32-year-old woman died after a gold mining shaft caved in and covered her alive at Uradi Village, Siaya County on Monday, August 26.  Rosemary Anyango died when she was trapped at the deepest end of the shaft. Area Assistant Chief Grace Otieno said the victim was with four others miners when the accident happened. The four of the miners escaped with injuries. Brandon Omondi, 20, also sustained injuries while trying to enter the collapsed shaft to save the woman who had been covered alive.
