54 million Fine: Former Governor Waititu, wife guilty in Kshs. 588 million graft case

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was found guilty of corruptly obtaining more than Ksh588 million. Waititu was fined Kshs. 54 million of 12 years in prison. Millimani Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki on Wednesday, February 12, found Waititu guilty of committing several crimes on various accounts, including conflict of interest and award of tenders without the approval of the County Assembly. Waititu was found guilty of conflict of interest and dealing with suspect property. Waititu was charged alongside his wife, Susan Wangari, and the directors of Testimony Enterprises Limited, Charles Chege and Beth Wangeci.
