Boyd Were beats Philip Aroko to clinch Kasipul by-election

Boyd Were, the son of former MP Ongondo Were and the ODM party candidate, was declared the winner of Kasipul Constituency by-election on November 27. Boyd got 16,819 votes, defeating his closest challenger Aroko who received 8,476 votes. Aroko was an independent candidate in an ODM stronghold. The by-election was marred by violence and intimidation. Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma was left bleeding after being attacked by youths at Agoro Sare polling station.
