Governor James Orengo resurfaces after more than 30 days, assures public he is in good health

Siaya Governor James Orengo appeared in public after being away for more than one month, reassuring Kenyans of his good health. Orengo attended the funeral of former Karachuonyo MP Phoebe Asiyo in Wikondiek, Homa Bay County on Friday, August 8. President William Ruto and ODM party leader Raila Odinga attended the burial. "I am sorry I have arrived late. I am with you in all that has been said. I want to reiterate that I am alive, I am a stone and there is nowhere I am going," Orengo said. Orengo was last seen publicly on June 23 when he appeared before the Senate Public Accounts Committee to respond to audit queries. Asiyo died on July 25 while receiving treatment in North Carolina, at age 93.
