Kasipul and Ugunja parliamentary seats by-election set for November 27, 2025

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will hold by-elections for Kasipul and Ugunja constituencies on November 2, 2025. Kasipul Constituency became vacant when area MP Charles Ongondo Were was assassinated by gunmen on a motorcycle along a Nairobi street roundabout on April 30, 2025. Police said the attackers trailed Were before one of them got off the motorbike and shot him at close range. The MP’s vehicle had stopped at a traffic light on Ngong Road.
