With just days to go before the November 27 by-election in Kasipul Constituency, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has fined two candidates Ksh.1 million each for political violence that left two supporters dead. ODM candidate Boyd Were and Philip Aroko, independent, were accused of causing violence in the constituency on November 6, 2025, at Opondo in Central Kasipul Ward after a fight broke out when Aroko's supporters stormed Boyd Were’s campaign rally and fired shots into the air. The two candidates appeared before IEBC panel and agreed to hold peace campaigns. Aroko promised a peaceful campaign but added that he does not fear anything. Were affirmed his commitment to advocating for peace in Kasipul. He urged the residents of Kasipul to maintain peace and embrace each other.
