Kibuye Market leader Judith Matengo arrested for assaulting women in Kisumu

Kibuye Market chairlady Judith Matengo has been arrested and charged with assaulting two female traders at the market. Matengo, who also goes by the Nyaramba, denied assaulting Mercy Okoth and Rozette Adhiambo, who sustained injuries during the attack. The two were treatment at Lumumba Sub-county Hospital Nyaramba was charged at the Winam Law Courts. Matengo’s co-accused, Marion Akinyi, also denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Robert Oanda. The court directed that the two be remanded at Kodiaga GK Women’s Prison until Monday, November 24, when their bond application will be heard. There are represented by lawyer Gilbert Oguso. Matengo was arrested on Sunday, November 16 evening after a video circulated widely on social media showing her assaulting the two female traders at Kibuye Market using a wooden rod.
