Late Ongondo Were’s son wins disputed ODM nomination for Kasipul by-election

Boyd Were, son of the late Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong'ondo, won the Orange Democratic Movement party nomination for by-elections. Boyd received 18,210 votes in the primaries held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. His closest challenger, Newton Ogada, got 3,037 votes, followed by Daniel Okindo Majiwa with 621 votes. Dr. Adel Ottoman came fourth with 463 votes while George Otieno Ajo Mbuta got 396 votes. Boyd was declared the winner by Returning Officer Felix Ngala at the election tallying center situated at Rachuonyo South Sub-county headquarters in Oyugis town.
