Man kills drinking friend in dispute over mobile phone in Kisumu East

Police in Kisumu East are holding a 30-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his drinking companion following a dispute over the ownership of a mobile phone at Kibos market. According to a police report, the suspect, Tom Odhiambo, allegedly stabbed Raphael Omondi, 40, in the chest using a kitchen knife after the two left a local drinking den where the argument began. Odhiambo is said to have confronted Omondi along the Kibos–Chiga Road, where he attacked him and fled, leaving the victim bleeding on the roadside. Passersby who witnessed the incident descended on the suspect with kicks and blows before police intervened and rescued him. Omondi was rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival due to excessive bleeding from the stab wound. Police say investigations are underway, and the suspect remains in custody as officers prepare to present him in court.
