Mbita High School ranked seventh in Nyanza KCSE results as 139 students at Tom Mboya obtain university entry grades

Mbita High School topped Suba North secondary schools in the just released KCSE 2025 results. The results were released by Education Cabinet Secretary S Julius Ogamba on Thursday, January 8 at Chebisaas High School in Eldoret. Nationwide, 1,932 candidates obtained an overall mean grade of A. More than 270,715 candidates (27.18%) qualified for direct university entry with a mean grade of C+ and above. A total of 993,226 candidates sat for the 2025 KCSE. Mbita High School posted commendable results, ranking seventh in Nyanza. The school presented 525 candidates and recorded 37 an A plus, 113 A minus, 120 B plus, 104 B plain, 60 B minus, 49 C plus, 21 C minus, 10 C minus, 9 D plus, and 2 D minus, with an overall mean score of 9.26. About 483 out of 525 candidates scored a mean grade of C+ (plus) and above to qualify for university admission. Tom Mboya High School in Rusinga presented 163 candidates. About 139 candidates got university entry grades, representing 85%t university transition. The top candidate, Otieno Josephat Odhiambo, scored A plain. Seven other students got A minus, 17 candidates obtained B plus, 32 candidates got B plain, 52 candidates had B minus, 30 candidates received C plus, five candidates got C minus while managed D plus. Waondo Secondary had 192 candidates, with a mean score of 4.86. 38 candidates got C plus and above to qualify for university. One candidate got A minus, three students received B plus, four candidates got B plain, eight candidates had B minus while 22 candidates obtained C plus. In other results, 25 candidates got C plain, 34 candidates got C minus, 45 students got D plus, 38 received D plain and 12 got D minus. Wakula Mixed Secondary School in Mfangano registered 10 candidates. Three candidates got D plus while seven other candidates received D plan. Also, in Mfangano, Nyakweri Mixed Secondary School had 14 candidates. One candidate got D plus, seven candidates received D plain and six candidate got D minus. Ogola Jaseme Secondary School had 26 candidates. Three candidates got B minus, six students got C plus, while 17 students received C and C minus. Waware Mixed had about 40 students obtained university admission grades. About 38 students at Waondo Secondary School got C plus and above, with one student receiving an A minus while three others got B plus. Four students got B and eight candidates got B minus. Harrison Odhiambo Utajo Mixed Day School presented 16 candidates. Two candidates got B minus while three others got C plus. Four students got C plain and two candidates managed C minus. Rusinga Girls registered 35 candidates. About 19 students got direct university entry, with two students getting B plain, eight candidates had B minus, and nine candidates got C plus. Eleven girls got C plain and additional five students managed C minus. Wandiji Mixed Secondary School presented 25 candidates. Four students got D plus, 11 others got D plus while 12 candidates received D minus.
