Jan 18, 2025
President William Ruto has appointed three new Cabinet secretaries in a move aimed at quelling a growing rebellion in Mount Kenya region. Former Uhuru Kenyatta minister Mutahi Kagwe, who was a minister in the former President Uhuru Kenyatta's government, was appointed Cabinet secretary for agriculture and livestock development. Kagwe is from Nyeri, the hometown of the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo becomes Cabinet secretary for information, communication and digital economy, while Lee Kinyanjui, former Nakuru County governor, will lead the ministry of investments, trade and industry. The three new ministers were sworn-in at ceremony at State House, Nairobi, on January 17, 2025.
