Ohangla musician Attomy Sifa, whose real name is Tom Mboya Ang'ang'a, was on Friday, July 31, arraigned in Homa Bay court alongside his DJ to face allegations of stealing a bull belonging to Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Atieno Bensuda.
The incident is reported to have occurred on a Monday at Bensuda’s rural home while she was away. According to her testimony, she dispatched people to follow up after learning that property had gone missing. She later confirmed that the stolen items included one bull and four sacks of charcoal.
Bensuda attended the court session, telling the magistrate that she wanted to ensure the accused were compelled to return the bull to her homestead.
“Your honor, I have come this morning because I wanted to ensure that Tony Sifa and the co-accused, who has brought your honor to my home, so that they would hand over the bull to me at my home,” Bensuda said.
Bensuda told the court she only learned of the missing items after sending people to follow up at her homestead. She said the theft was not only unexpected, but deeply troubling given the stature of the accused.
Court officials said the matter is still under investigation, and the magistrate has directed both parties to cooperate fully as evidence is reviewed.
Outside the courtroom, the mood was tense. Supporters of the musician gathered quietly, some expressing disbelief, while others urged patience as the legal process unfolds.
If he is found guilty, the singer could face charges under Kenya’s livestock and property theft laws, which carry significant penalties.
For now, the case continues to draw public attention, not only because of the high-profile individuals involved, but also due to the unusual nature of the alleged theft.
Attomy has been posting videos online accusing various Homa Bay County public officials of corruption.
