Opiyo Wandayi’s protege Moses Omondi gets ODM ticket for Ugunja by-election

Former constituency manager Moses Omondi won the Orange Democratic Movement party ticket for the Ugunja Parliamentary by-election slated for November 27, 2025. Omondi got 5,329 votes against Joseph Otieno Alur who received 2,789 votes during the primaries held on Friday, September 26, 2025. The Returning Officer Felix Ngala said that the third candidate Eng. Fredrick Omondi Owino got 1,336 votes. Omondi was the Ugunja Constituency manager for 13 years when former MP and Energy Cabinet Secretary James Opiyo Wandayi represented the area. Wandayi resigned when he was appointed a minister in the ODM-UDA broad-based government. - will be the second Member of Parliament for the region.
