Protesters parade murdered activist Richard Otieno’s body along Molo streets
Jan 20, 2025
Elburgon Town residents stormed a local morgue and forcefully removed the body of slain activist Richard Otieno, popularly known as Molo Prezident, claiming the youth leader was killed by a local politician. Otieno was attached and murdered on January 18, 2025 night by unknown hitmen. Otieno’s body was recovered in a thicket near the Molo River in Turi. Molo sub-county Police Commander Timon Odingo said the body was found with the help of sniffer dogs. The protesters barricaded the Molo-Elburgon-Nakuru road with stones and lit bonfires as they marched towards the home of Molo MP Kuria Kimani, but police blocked the road towards the MP's home. Otieno was a vocal critic of both the national government and the constituency’s leadership led by MP Kimani. Otieno also led protests over land injustices, extrajudicial killings, and youth unemployment in Nakuru County.
