Raila Odinga condemns 'witches' wishing Governor James Orengo ill health
Sep 01, 2025
ODM leader Raila Odinga has condemned people who spread malicious rumors and wished death upon Siaya Governor James Orengo. Orengo had not been seen in public for more than a month. The governor was admitted at a hospital outside the country for unknown illness. Raila, who attended a fundraiser for the Church of Christ in Africa at Ndori Primary School in Gem, Siaya County, condemned the rumors as primitive and likened the perpetrators to "witches." He expressed dismay over the false claims that Orengo had resigned, labelling the propaganda as deeply irresponsible. “I was in constant communication with Governor Orengo throughout his time abroad and I don’t understand the motives behind those spreading misinformation,” Raila said. Orengo returned to the country during the burial of the former Karachuonyo MP Phoebe Asiyo. The governor made light of the rumors about his death, saying that he now looks much younger. He added that he is not going away anytime soon.
