Homa Bay County Assembly Majority Leader Ogindo Questions Mbadi’s Support Among Suba Leaders

Homa Bay County Assembly Majority Leader Richard Ogindo has raised concerns over what he termed a growing lack of support for Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi among elected leaders from the Suba region.
Speaking during a fundraiser on Saturday, June 6 at Rusinga Central SDA Church, an event presided over by Mbadi, Ogindo—who is the MCA for Kwabwai Ward—said that despite Mbadi’s national prominence, his engagements in the greater Suba District have not attracted the backing of key local leaders.
Ogindo questioned the absence of Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, who did not attend the function. He also criticized Suba South MP Caroli Omondi for allegedly avoiding events officiated by Mbadi, noting that Omondi represents Mbadi’s home turf yet “does not recognize him as a minister.”
The Majority Leader urged the Suba community to rally behind Mbadi, arguing that strong local support is essential if the Treasury CS is to mount a credible bid for the presidency.
Ogindo further accused officials from the Suba North Constituency Development Fund of orchestrating a recent visit by Siaya Governor James Orengo to the Suba District. Orengo is associated with a splinter faction within ODM that opposes the group aligned with Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Oburu Odinga.
Also absent from the fundraiser was Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, who hails from Suba North.
Local leaders who received Mbadi at the event included Rusinga MCA Samwel Okings Okomo and Nominated MCA Pamela Odira.
